WEEK 10

Hello everyone! Sorry I am late with this post. It has been a busy week...which is nothing new for all of you!

On Tuesday, remember we will be doing a service project with the pre-schoolers across the parking lot instead of doing science projects.
Our group will be joining with Mrs. Rebekahs group and will be reading a Thanksgiving story and doing a Thanksgiving craft with the two and three year olds. Put your patient and helpful hats on. Serving others is a blessing!! It will be a fun time.

Also, the presentation will be reciting a classic poem....please do not read off a page the entire time. Try and be VERY familiar with your poem. (2-3) min. We will be reviewing all the skills we have learned so far this year. Example: Projection, eye contact, poise, gestures, ...ect....

Can't wait to see all of you!

Week 9!!!

Last week was heavy, wasn't it? A whole lot of information. Listen to that music and review, review, review. Draw the map at home a few time a week. It helps me to go over the map with Soryn and have her draw it out. Also, there are so many fun videos on youtube that span all the subjects. Moms, if you have any school house rock at home or can get your hands on it, those are fun to watch.

I loved the presentations last week and I can't wait to see what we will learn from the students this coming week. Thank you Mia, Ethan and Isabel for leading the way. Gabrielle, Micah, Andrew, Christian, and Jane be ready! Use those gestures and expression.

Thank you for being an amazing class and thank you moms for being the best partners in this learning experience!

ah yes,

We decided that Mia and Andrew would present this coming week. However, in my haste, I did not write down who the other two were. I hope you guys remember. I know that Christian is presenting the following week. Please email me if you guys remember. So...forgive my forgetfulness and Mia and Andrew be sure to be ready.

Thanks guys!

Week 8!

Humility! That is our theme this year. Remember Philipians 2 :3-4.  " do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."

This coming week our presentations will be divided. Four of the students will present this coming week and four will present for week 9. We will be presenting a demonstration speech. The students will have 5-6 minutes each. Choose your favorite activity: how to do something, fix something, use something, make something.  Use visual aids, drawings, volunteers from the audience. Make it fun and interesting. The focus will be GESTURES. Use body movements, hands and arms to enhance your presentation. Don't be stiff.

I have seen students teach how to make origami, make a smoothie, do a computer program...etc...

Be creative!!!! Let us see those individual personalities.

Get ready for more fun with the tin whistle and the solar system...and review your grammar at home!!!

I am having so much fun with all of you. See you on Tuesday!!!

New six weeks!!

Hello my friends,
It is time to get back to work. I hope you all had a nice break. This new six weeks begins a new fine art, tin whistle!! Bring your ear plugs, ladies...Ha! The students need to bring their tin whistles, which you can purchase at Playville. Please make sure they either put their names on them or keep them put away when not using them. It is also helpful to purchase a two pocket folder labeled, "music" for all their music handouts.

Presentations this week will be to recite a famous speech or part of a speech that your person from week 6 was famous for. You can spice up your presentation by dressing the character( remember mrs. shannon's mustaches?) or by speaking like the character. We are focusing on EXPRESSION this week. Don't speak monotone...but vary the volume and intensity. Keep your audience interested by using your voice and facial expressions. 2-3 minutes.

I look forward to seeing all those precious faces again on Tues.
God bless you all.
